The short answer
"Hair extensions for wavy hair" is two opposite purchases. If your hair is already wavy, you want a piece whose texture sits beside your own without arguing with it. If your hair is straight and you want waves, almost any piece will do — because this is real human hair, and it takes a curling wand exactly like yours does.
The thing worth knowing before you spend: the texture shown on a website is not permanent in either direction. What is fixed is your own curl pattern. A beach wave is a defined S-wave, not a curl — so if your hair is genuinely curly or coily, a wave piece will read as a different texture hanging next to yours, and no amount of styling will change that. That is a specialist purchase, and it is not us.
Matching waves and adding waves are different problems
Search results run these together, which is how people end up disappointed by a piece that is objectively fine.
Adding waves is the easy one. Your hair is straight or nearly straight and you want texture. Any human hair piece holds a wave from a wand, so this is really a decision about whether you do that styling yourself each time or buy the texture pre-set.
Matching waves is the harder one. Your hair already has movement, and a poker-straight panel hanging underneath it announces itself every time you turn your head. Here the texture of the piece matters more than anything except the shade.
The four-word review that says it best came from someone who bought the wrong one of these: "Wavy need straight — exchange please." Nothing wrong with the hair. Wrong texture for her head.

What "beach wave" actually means here
Every brand uses the phrase and almost none of them mean the same thing by it. Some mean a soft bend at the ends; some mean a full spiral. The only honest way to show you is to put our wave next to our straight piece in the same shade, photographed the same way.

Straight

Beach Wave
That matters for matching. If your own hair dries with movement all the way up, this sits beside it convincingly. If your hair is straight at the root and only bends at the ends, a full-length wave underneath can look busier than what is growing out of your head — buy straight and wave the lot together.
"Love love love ! Perfect colour match and I love the beachy waves. Instant dream hair. 😍"Lauren B., verified buyer
Human hair changes texture. Your own hair does not.
This is the fact that makes most of the anxiety around texture unnecessary, and the same fact that sets the limit. Because these are 100% Remy human hair, you can wave a straight piece, straighten a wavy one, and change your mind next week.
"Great clip ins that I wash, straighten or curl to suit my mood, no one knows they are there but me and just thicken my fine hair up beautifully!"Steph D., verified buyer
What does not change is the hair growing out of your scalp. You can style a piece to meet your texture; you cannot do the reverse. So when the two are far apart, move the piece.
- 1Heat protectant first, every single time. Extension hair is not attached to a scalp, so it gets no oil and no repair. Do slightly more than you would for your own hair.
- 2Keep the wand at a medium heat. Around 150–180°C is plenty. Higher does not set a better wave, it just shortens the life of the piece.
- 3Style the piece off your head. Lay it flat or hang it up. You can see the whole length, and there is no risk of catching your scalp.
- 4Then do a final pass over both together. Once the piece is in, run the wand through a few sections that take in your hair and the extension at once. That shared pass is what makes two textures read as one.
- 5Expect a curl to drop sooner than it does on you. Extension hair usually holds a set for a day or two, then relaxes. Plan to refresh it, or buy the wave pre-set.
"Love these as they don’t get tangled. Just wish the curl would stay in a bit longer but overall they’re quality and beautiful"Emma B., verified buyer
That is the honest trade, and it is the single best argument for buying the wave rather than making it: a set wave is there when you wake up.

That middle number is the one that catches people out. The wave comes in eight shades; the straight range runs to twenty-nine. If your colour is not among the eight, buy the shade that matches and put the wave in yourself — a texture mismatch is fixable in ten minutes with a wand, and a colour mismatch is not fixable at all.

Here is where we stop, and it is worth saying plainly rather than letting you find out by post.
A wave is not a curl — a defined S-wave and a spiral curl pattern do not read as the same hair, even in the same shade. Next to a genuine curl, a beach wave looks like straight hair that has been to a wedding.
You can curl it tighter, but it will not hold — human hair takes a set from heat, not a permanent pattern. A wand gets a piece to a curl for an evening; it will be a wave again by the next day.
What we would actually suggest — if your hair holds a curl pattern of its own, look for a brand that sells by curl type rather than by wave. It is a different product built on different hair.
If you want to try anyway — exchanges and returns are free, so finding out costs your time rather than your money. Plenty of people with a loose curl wear a beach wave happily; it is the tighter patterns where it stops.
If you are wavy and fine at the same time
A lot of people are buying for both, and weight matters more here than texture does: no amount of correct texture rescues a piece your own hair cannot hide.
Our lightest pieces — the 45g Lightweight wire piece, and the small front clip-ins — are straight only. That costs you ten minutes rather than a compromise: wave them yourself, alongside your own hair, and you get the lighter weight and the matching texture at once.
"Sooo pleased with my hair . Was easy to put in, and felt secure while I was wearing it . and it curled easily on a medium heat . Colour match was perfect, would definitely recommend."Joanne B., verified buyer

Can you get wavy hair extensions in the UK?
Yes. We make a Beach Wave version of the invisible wire piece in eight shades, at 12 to 18 inches. Most UK brands sell some form of wave, though what each one means by the word varies enormously — look for a close-up photograph of the actual hair rather than a styled model shot before you decide.
Can you straighten wavy hair extensions?
Yes, because it is real Remy human hair. Use a heat protectant and keep the straighteners at a medium heat, around 150–180°C. The wave will come back the next time the hair is washed, so straightening is a per-occasion job rather than a permanent change.
Will hair extensions work with naturally wavy hair?
They work well, and you have two routes. Buy the texture pre-set in a Beach Wave piece, or buy a straight piece in your exact shade and wave it with a wand alongside your own hair. Match the shade first either way — texture is something you can add in ten minutes, and colour is not.
Do hair extensions work on curly hair?
It depends how curly. A loose wave blends with a beach wave piece comfortably. A defined curl pattern or coily hair does not — a wave sitting next to a curl reads as two different textures, and heat styling gives you a curl for one evening rather than a match. For those patterns, look for a brand that sells by curl type.
How do you curl human hair extensions without damaging them?
Heat protectant first, a medium heat of about 150–180°C, and style the piece off your head where you can see the whole length. Extension hair gets no natural oils and cannot repair itself, so it is less forgiving of high heat than the hair on your scalp — treat it a little more gently than you treat your own.
How long does a curl last in hair extensions?
Usually a day or two before it starts to relax, which is a little less than most people expect. There are no scalp oils weighing it down, but there is also no root growth holding the shape. If you want waves every day without redoing them, the pre-set Beach Wave is the easier buy.
